One of the many (too many according to Judi, Mamma, and a bunch of other people) things I do not like about gatherings is that at one point people always end up discussing about my love life, or lack of it.

Mamma, Tita Zeny, and I were talking, when E.V. entered the room.

E.V.: Ciao, Din! Blooming ka ah! (actually she said, "guma-ganda ka ah", but I'm pretty sure she actually meant "blooming", hehehe)

I smiled sheepishly.

E.V.: Ano may boyfriend na?
Me: Wala.
E.V.: Aba, tuma-tanda ka na ha!

I cringed.

Mamma: Ang suplada naman kasi nyan eh.
Me: Huh? Sino naman sinupladahan ko?
Tita Zeny: Oo nga naman. Tsaka bata pa naman si Dindin eh.

[Hah!]

E.V.: Ay, wag kang suplada. Pag may mga handaan maki-halubilo ka kasi sa mga ibang tao. Ang mga kina-kausap mo lang kasi mga dati mong kakilala kaya wala kang makilalang ibang tao eh.

[Pwe.]

You see, whenever I end up (being blackmailed) going to these "handaan", most people talk about other people they know, and I don't like talking about people I don't know, feeling ko kasi wala akong karapatan. Or they talk about "artistas", or telenovelas, and because we don't have TFC at home, I have no idea who or what they are talking about (which I honestly think is a good thing). I know, ours and one of my sister's are probably the only Pinoy household who do not have TFC.

And, if a guy needs someone else to ask me if I'd go out with him, I seriously think he doesn't deserve to be my, or anyone else's, boyfriend. I mean, I just turned 26, I left high school years ago. It is only acceptable to act as if you're still in high school when you're being mushy and/or cheesy with someone who is being mushy and/or cheesy with you too.

Anyway, what most people call "me being suplada", I call "me, minding my own business". I, thank you. Bow.
