Francis M., 1964-2009

Friday, March 06, 2009

They say, "The good dies young".

The last time I cried for the death of someone I don't personally know was when Pope John Paul II passed away. When I checked my email I thought it was one of those stupid forwarded emails that circulated months ago, then Ate Xara's SMS arrived. Biglang ang bigat ng pakiramdam ko. You know how some people are capable of entering your life, your heart without you having the pleasure of personally knowing them? Francis M. was one of those people. I know that some people don't get it. They'll ask me why I would feel so sad for someone I don't personally know. Just like when 2 vocalist left their former band 2 years ago. Someone told me I was OA, I was also called mababaw. But it's okei, I think it's good that I am capable of feeling this much affection towards other people, even for people I don't personally know.

Please send prayers especially for Francis M.'s family and friends, they need it more than Francis M. does right now.

I wasn't able to attend mass, but I lit a candle for him. Years ago when Lolo passed away, someone told me to light a candle for him, I don't know why but I like to think that it'll help his soul find its way to heaven. So, that's what I did when Pope John Paul II and Papà died, and that's what I do on their death anniversaries. That's what I also do when someone I know tells me that someone he knows passed away. If you can, please light a candle for Francis M. too.

Francis M. is a big lost not only to his family, friends, and the show business, but also to the whole nation. His legacy will live on. May he rest in peace.

"The family of the late Francis Magalona requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Philippine National Red Cross.

A viewing of the body will be announced to the public, but for now, only family and friends will be invited to go to the wake. For more information on how to help the Red Cross, please follow this link."
